Subject: Hoisted on his own petard.
We knew Noah Beery, Jr. played nice guys, and Wallace Beery played lovable, flawed rogues. Meet Noah Beery (Senior): he plays the kind of guy you'll never want to work for, especially on a ship, which he's planning to deep six for the insurance.
The crew of the ship are as unappealing as the stunted dialogue, but the women are a treat to behold.
Sudden ending, with neat "effect." No special effects here - it looked like the real thing.
